Hexagon shaped patchwork piece, made from hexagon mosaic patchwork using a range of plain and printed dress fabrics. The hexagons are arranged in random placement between three plain concentric hexagons of dark blue, orange, light blue and an outer border of green. Some of the papers are still intact, as are the tacking stitching on the outer green border.

It was made by Annie Salkend (nee Atkinson), who lived in Durham. She was born in 1893, and was a very skilled sewer, often recycling scraps of fabric into new projects as resources were scarce.
