This cord quilted wedding dress was made from silk grosgrain by Mrs Van Heyst-de-Boer for her niece’s wedding in 1954. The Dutch born maker travelled to England just a few weeks before the wedding to make this dress, which also has a matching jacket with quilted collar. The fabric was purchased in London from John Lewis, and the sequins were a later addition to convert the dress and jacket into evening wear.
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
