Applique coverlet made from printed cottons applied on a plain backing, many of them floral furnishing fabrics. The coverlet has a frill on one side, and the applique has hand embroidered herringbone stitch over the edges. It is signed and dated 'Grace Jones 1864'.
The coverlet was made by Grace Jones, the grandmother of the donor, probably as a wedding present to her sister-in-law, Eleanor Jones who married her brother Reverend Hugh Jones, who served the Welsh Presbytarian ministry in Liverpool in the late 19th century. Grace Jones was born in Llanerchymedd, Anglesey, and lived there for most of her life.
