This quilt features red and pale blue hand embroidered signatures on a white cotton quilted background, surrounding an embroidered outline of of Queen Victoria's head in the centre. The inscription above her head reads 'Primitive Methodist Connexion Jarrow on Tyne Circuit' and underneath reads '1837 Diamond Jubilee 1897'.

There are 212 embroidered signatures on the quilt, with some of the names repeated. Signature quilts were often made as commemorative gifts or as part of a fundraising activity, and people would pay to have their name included as one of the signatures.
