Red and white cotton quilt featuring a design with a central square of four baskets framed by three borders. It is hand and machine-pieced and hand-quilted.
This quilt was made by Ann Wharton, a dressmaker from Selsmire, Westmoreland, who came from a farming family. She made it for her sister-in-law, Margaret as a gift for her bottom drawer. The fabrics that went into this quilt were bought specially for the purpose rather than been recycled from the remains of another sewing project.
