Yellow and brown cotton coverlet made from hand-pieced hexagons which are arranged to form a diamond pattern. It was made for the Surrey room at the W.I. Denman College by a group of members from several Womens Institutes led by Mollie Simmonds. The women met at Mollie's house in Godstone, where they designed and stitched the individual diamonds and decided on the final layout. Materials for the patchwork were largely supplied by dressmaking friends and the backing was specially purchased.
