This christening gown was made by Eva Davies for one of her grand-daughters. It has two feathers and a bow in the centre and a cable design around the hem. Eva started quilting at the age of 59, although she was originally taught by her mother who had received special training from Amy Emms. Eva carried on the traditional Durham style she was taught in her youth, but often added a mixture of Welsh motifs in honour of her husband’s heritage. Mrs Emms once said to Eva that her quilts with a mixture of regional motifs were her best pieces.
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
