Dark red and gold brocade gentleman's smoking jacket with vermicelli quilting on the cuffs. The lining is also quilted with a tree/floral patterns waves at the hemline. The jacket is machine stitched and machine quilted.
It was probably made in China, from Chinese brocade fabric, done on a simple machine (though still takes a lot of skill to produce these designs by machines). The quilting inside the jacket has been done in a tree/curving tendrils and flowers and leaves design which has been specifically designed to fit the space of each panel.
