Child’s top/coverlet made from blue, beige and green wool blanket squares on point. Most of the squares apart from the outer border have appliqué and embroidery depicting different children’s story characters, animals, flowers or geometric shapes. Animals and story characters include a family of rabbits, Litte Red Riding Hood, The teddy bear’s picnic, two monkeys, the owl and the pussy cat, ducks in a pond, a cat, a squirrel and birds. In the bottom right hand square there is embroidered lettering which reads ‘Designed & worked Jessie Richman 1943 in her 68th year’.
