Made from cottons and cotton sateen, this very traditional hexagon design quilt has rosettes of seven coloured and patterned hexagons separated by a cream hexagon ‘path’ with a single hexagon in the centre. The quilt is hand pieced over papers and hand quilted from the back. On the reverse is the embroidered signature and date “Barbara Bailey 1970”.

Barbara Bailey was an enthusiastic quilter, teacher and a devoted founder member of The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles. It is thanks to Barbara and her generous legacy that The Guild was able to set up the Quilt Museum and Gallery in 2008.
