Multi-coloured patchwork top with a simple frame layout made from squares of printed cottons. It was made by Emily Mary Feltham, who was born in Fareham, Hampshire in 1871. Emily made this patchwork top when she was eleven. She married Robert Sherriff, a Scottish Carpenter in 1893 and they had a small farm and a hand laundry on the outskirts of Ringwood, Hampshire. Emily had 6 children and died at the age of 45 in 1917.
