This unusual Suffolk Puff patchwork is made entirely from white cotton puffs unlike others of its type in the collection which use a range of printed cotton fabrics. It was made by Lucy Elizabeth Bottle, who was born in Ulcomb, Kent in 1844. She worked in domestic service, firse as a housemaid then working her way up to housekeeper by 1871. She never married. It is likely that this piece was made in her later years, before her death in 1919.
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
