This stunning quilt was made from silks in a kaleidoscope pattern by Elizabeth Watson in the late 19th century. She lived on a farm in Cumbria with her two sisters, who were all quilters. They would rise at 5am, and after their chores were completed they would spend daylight hours sewing both practical and decorative items. Elizabeth made this piece for her bottom drawer, though she sadly never married.
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
