Quill Work Panel made from multiple fabrics and colours sewn to a linen backing. 'Quill' patchwork uses scraps of fabric, such as velvets, silks and ribbons and creates a thick, almost three dimensional effect that resembles a rug-like texture. Each piece is made from a rectangle of fabric, whose top corners are folded down to the centre bottom edge to form a triangle. The sides are then folded in to create an elongated pentagon shape. It was popular in the late Victorian period, which is when this piece was made.
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
