Purple silk dressing gown with vertical machine quilting on the front and back and diagonal quilting on the collar, cuffs and pocket. It has a cream silk lining and a separate, un-quilted belt.
It was made on a Lock stitch machine, and although dated to the twenties it is possible it was created earlier due to style and vibrant purple colour. The silk is very thin in both the top and lining, and it has wool wadding. As the fabrics are so delicate and the quality of stitching so good, it is possible this was professionally done.
