Mosaic patchwork coverlet made from printed and plain Turkey Red cottons, with elongated pentagrams arranged in eight petalled flowers with four kite shapes forming stars in the remaining spaces. The stars have embroidered feather stitch in white thread over the central seams. The central mosaic arrangement is surrounded by plain Turkey red border, then a border of octagons and squares followed by a final plain Turkey Red Border. The coverlet is backed by a plain white cotton. Made and given by Elizabeth Catherall to her grandson John Charles Catherall on his marriage to Margaret Sarah Elizabeth Lea at St. Aidan’s Church, Liverpool, in 1921.
