This quilt features a central square with nine surrounding frames (four longer frames of pieced ribbons in chevron pattern with five narrower frames). It is made from multi-coloured silks, including many silk ribbons and is hand-pieced. The centre of the top contains a double layer of fabric and there is evidence of the oldest and finest quailty of the ribbons which date to c.1810-1820s. The later alterations date from c.1850-1860s.
