This patchwork coverlet is made from squares, rectangles and triangles of printed cotton, linen and rayon, surrounded by a plain border. It was pieced together by patients in the Orthopaedic ward of the hospital Barbara Bailey worked at during the Second World War as a nurse. She used the construction of this patchwork as a form of therapy for her patients.
