Yellow and white cotton North Country wholecloth quilt, with a single 'X' patchwork in the centre surrounded by three frames in alternating yellow and white. The hand quilted designs include running feather, lined plait and shells with a square diamond infill.

It was made by Frances Binns (nee Murray) from Corbridge, near Hexham. Frances worked as a governess in Bradford, where she met her future husband Henry Binns, a saddler. They had four children; Frank, Kate, Lizzy and John. The eldest son married Annie Martha Hannam, and Frances made this quilt for Annie's 21st birthday in 1902. Frances made many other quilts to help supplement the family income.
