The quilt was machine sewn using thermal (rubber coated) curtain lining and made as a response to the environmental devastation caused by the M3 extension through Twyford Down, Hampshire. The quilting pattern is based on a car tyre dump.
It was donated to The Quilt Museum by the maker in recognition of Helen Joseph’s contribution to quiltmaking during her time as curator at the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead (1984-2006)
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
