The centre star was started as a sample machine made technique 20 years ago when doing part 1 of City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting. I liked it and intended to make it into a bigger piece, but it got left for years until maybe 10 years ago I added the 3 smaller stars top and bottom. It moved to York in the UnFinished Objects box! About 2 years ago I took it out of the box, and added the borders, wadding and backing. During the last two winters I have had hand-quilted it while on duty as a volunteer steward at the Quilt Museum. When I was finishing the binding last week, a visitor asked "how long does it take to make a quilt like that?" I explained that it had been a UFO - she was an embroiderer and understood!
