Last Sunday, sixteen members of the Quilt Museum's volunteer team visted the 'Quilts: 1700-2010' exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. They were joined by members of the Tuesday Quilters from Tadcaster, friends, and staff who also went down on the coach to view the exhibition. The trip was an opportunity for volunteers to compare methods of interpretation and display of textilesat another museum. It was also an opportunityto learn more about the social historyof quilting in the UK told through the V&A's collection.
It was a long but enjoyable day, and a once in a lifetime chance to see many quilts from the V&A collection which are not often on display. The exhibition runs until the 4th of July and you can read more about the exhibition here.
