The Quilt Museum and Gallery receives many offers of donations to add to the growing collection. One recent acquisition is this charming quilted Christening dress and cap made during the 1980s. The quilted motifs include feathers and a bow on the front of the dress, with a rope border and a square diamond infill. The dress and cap are both trimmed with lace and ribbon. This lovely dress and cap join other items of costume in the collection, including petticoats, skirts, jackets, dressing gowns and hats. It will be displayed in the Quilt Museum and Gallery’s forthcoming exhibition ‘Celebrations’ in 2011.
