The Quilt Museum and Gallery will be exhibiting ' Patchwork for the Parlour' on stand A35 at Festival of Quilts at the NEC Birmingham between 11-14 August 2011.
In the late 19th century, the Victorians used luxurious velvets, silks and satins on their soft furnishings in the home to show off their wealth and status. Rich patchwork pieces were made to cover almost any item in the house – from tables and pianos to chairs and teapots!
Festival of Quilts is the largest annual quilt show in Europe and takes place over four days each August. For further information about Festival of Quilts 2011 please visit http://www.twistedthread.com/
The Quilters' Guild Collection is held by The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
